Guidelines for Parenting Skills
It is challenging to master parenting especially where one is a new parent or taking care of more than one kid. Parents are more than willing to take all necessary measure to ensure their kids have a nice life according to their living standards and some go to extreme effort of following parental blogs and attending parenting therapy sessions. This is because they want their kids to grow up responsibly and be proud of them. The following are some of the parenting guidelines that parents can adapt to ensure they bring up kids in the best way possible.
It is good to set time to play around your kids and bond with them. Hence a parent will be able to keep track of their children’s behavior and how active they are. From this parents will get the early stages of any abnormalities in a child. Encourage your kid to do outdoor activities which will enable them socialize with neighboring kids and know how to communicate effectively.
It is important for parents to be firm in their command or request. Children should learn to be obedient. When a parent does not stand on their order, request or command children will learn to rebel and refuse any instructions given to them. Both parties will be at a disadvantage as miscommunication and misunderstandings will occur in the long run.
It is advisable that differences in discipline matters should not be aired in front of kids. This is because children may result in choosing sides. Decisions should be made privately hence giving children one option. It is much easier if the child know whichever parent they approach the answer will be the same.
Parents must keep in mind that their children will do what they see they doing. Hence children living with arguing parents will end up with the mentality that arguing is the most effective way of communicating. Some habits showed by parents can also force their children into troubled childhood which will affect their future personalities. Parents who get drunk and fight a lot cause traumatizing effects to their children thus they end up with a troubled childhood. It is always good to watch your words and action when kids are around.
Give your children small rewards for good behavior. Some of the rewards and god behaviors include waking up early for school one gets a cookie, getting new toys for good performance at school and gold stars for every good deed you do to others. Hence kids will always be doing good in order to ensure they get more rewards each day. Time will come when they do not have to do good deeds just for rewards but because they know it is the right thing to do.
